Alien Covenant: Moebius inspiration behind landing craft scenes?

leading from

a) In 2016, a collected volume of Moebius' World of Edena was published, but the stories have been published in French for some years before, and this part of the story was originally illustrated in 1993

b) Part of the story involves a flat shuttle taking off and travelling across a rocky landscape.

Alien Covenant featured two medium sized landing crafts in the story that are generally flat structures. The comparison is perhaps nothing much to note because the vehicle that Moebius drew was so basic that a child could make a model of one out of cardboard, but I presume that it was a starting point.

One of the vehicles in Alien Covenant was a landing shuttle for carrying passengers to the surface along with various gear to assist with their exploration inside for their first landing on the planet, while the other was a loading ship that was generallya flying platform with crane and a flight cabin in the corner, serving in the film as a rescue craft and is used in a fight scene with the alien "Xenomorph".

c) Moebius was an influence once again in the film and questions about what ideas were used and where might be questions to ask.

In Edena, the shuttle hits a pinnacle of a rock formation knocking off the top and suddenly falls out of control much like the loading ship in Alien Covenant hits a giant statue and knocks the head off, suddenly diving out of control about to crash into the ground.

d) In The World of Edena, the shuttle almost crashing into the ground suddenly swoops upwards, and the landing platform dives towards the ground and just managed to pull upwards before it can hit the ground.

    1. well, I know that everyone was jumping up and down comparing the trapper hats to Moebius imagery, perhaps I wish they were a little more like his work. Of course one of the costume designers, Andrei Riabovitchev, has admitted to taking inspiration from Moebius indeed. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/lnKJa
