a) Concept art for Jodorowsky's Dune showing scene with Duke Leto attempting to poison Baron Harkonnen references the Henu Barque?
The identity of the artist would most likely be Roland Topor, and this would have been for the failed Dune Project that was gaining ground in 1975 before it collapse

The artist is Roland Topor who co-founded the Panic Movement with Jodorowsky in the 60's. Topor is probably best known to film buffs for the animated film Fantastic Planet and writing the novel The Tenant which was adapted by Roman Polanski (he also played Renfield in Werner Herzog's remake of Nosferatu).
ReplyDeleteI'm not 100% on the exact order, but I believe Jodorowsky asked Topor to illustrate the earliest draft of his Dune script just to help illustrate to the producers the direction he planned on going with the film and there were no plans to actually use any of Topor's concepts or designs.
Thankyou, well he seems to be the most likely person. I've seen some of his other work and he has been able to create imagery that's as strange although for some reason these storyboards present a difference from much of what I have seen of his, but then I haven't seen that much. I have read about the possibility it was him in various forums.
DeleteNow I'm attaching Roland Topor's name
DeleteActually, looking at the Planet Sauvage artwork splattered around the internet these days, it does make more sense
