HR Giger: Comparison between Alien Monster IV
and Dali's "Daddy Longlegs of the Evening - Hope!'"

(Homage to Jean Delville?)

a) Recognising a connection
This realisation came to me on Sunday 12th 2015, when I wondered further about the alien hand being like a Daddy Longlegs and then I looked for any connection I could with Dali and found that he painted a picture "Daddy Longlegs of the evening hope".

Of course I had seen many times before, and probably at times knew the title of the painting well in the past

b.i) Spider becomes hand while bottom of the cello becomes a phallus
I looked again at the connection between the paintings and thought about how the daddy longleg nature of the alien creature's fingers references the daddy longlegs in Dali's paintings and the phallic nature of the cello becomes the phallic form on the right end of the tentacle stretching across the lower right.

b.ii) Daddy longlegs next to the hand with long fingers.

b.iii) Phallic cello and phallic top of ribbed phallic tentacle.

c) Eye of the sleeping face and the eye like form of the alien creature

d) Bow with string
Perhaps the violin bow shows up in the strange limb like thing, with the bow string as if not a fibula, perhaps a long tendon either side of it lying on the floor at the bottom of the Giger painting with the end raised with a tendon running along part of it and resting against the alien monster's rib cage

details from Dali's "Daddy Longlegs of the Evening - Hope!'"
and Alien Monster IV showing the bow strings
