This
comic would have had comic book stories based on TV programs, with a
significant amount based on Gerry Anderson's TV series such as
Thunderbirds, UFO, Stingray, and a certain number of people who were in
the special effects department for Alien had worked on Gerry Anderson's
productions.
So I would like to imagine that they would have
been looking at this comic book and its later incarnations for idea, and
perhaps Ridley would have had a look for ideas as well since he needed a
solid look for the Alien movie.
c) In Alien, we are introduced to the closed doorway leading into the hypersleep chamber in the Nostromo
"Alien: Development of the hypersleep chamber via the Countdown comic book #1, 1971 ?" was originally posted on 2 March 2021 with many thanks to 'Kamandi' for telling me about the Countdown comic book in relation to the hypersleep chamber in Alien. Google deleted it on 15th May 2021 and so I restored the page upon that day.
