Ron Cobb's Birth Temple illustration as a starting point for Giger's Alien Life Cycle Hieroglyphics

Giger's Alien Life Cycle Hieroglyphics (1978)

Giger's life cycle hieroglyphics, combined with Egyptian imagery, would have used Ron Cobb's hieroglyphics from his tomb picture as a starting point. Ron's Life Cycle tableau appears to have been developed from Mayan imagery, perhaps from the Dresden codex and his general illustration takes inspiration from Giger's artwork that Dan O'Bannon would have shown to him.

Ron Cobb's birth temple.
A human explores a primitive angular tomb like chamber,
loosely with a Mayan or Aztec look to it.
