a)  Looking at the image, one can take note of the spines sticking out of its back near enough forming a threat display structure.  

 

One can see that he has drawn the larger hands that look loosely inspired by the ones from HR Giger's Alien Monster IV (1978)

 

The hands are displayed either side of Giger's Alien Monster IV's hand here

 

There are gaps visible betwee the tendons
