HR Giger's Necronom IV (1976) referenced in Moebius' illustration for the Temps Futurs catalogue from 1976?

a) A question is now, how does this relate to Giger's Necronom IV painted in 1976. I don't know which one came first.

Moebius' illustration appears to reference Goya's "Saturn Eating His Children".

Does it suggest that the Necronom IV takes some shapes and forms in an abstract way from Goya's painting?

The first thing I did notice was the similarity to the Alien beast head, but in what way could I dare to say this?

b) The mouth of the beast and the rim around the front of the hood of the man, perhaps the teeth become the lines going down.

c) The drooping pipes and the wing shape at the side of the hat

d) The elongated head and the Arzach character with his hat slanting backwards.

    1. It's nice to see Moebius having perhaps a fondness for Giger's work at the time, and then because of this fusion happening here, it probably became something of interest for the people working on the designs for Aliens, as with a lot of things that might have been left behind by the Alien art department.
