The illustration next to the painting

The cover of the illustration for White Dwarf here appears to be one of these pictures that references Salvado Dali's famous painting Daddy Longlegs of the evening - Hope!" which Giger's painting also appears to reference. So it's as if Giger realised that at the time

b) The spider becomes the alien beast's hand

c) The skirting at the back of the woman's loin cloth becomes the discarded chestburster skin of the alien beast while the leg becomes what loosely might be perceived as the end of an egg tube with a spore coming out. You would find these egg tubes in Giger's diagrams for the egg silo interior.

d) The scabbard becomes the curved channl in the ground

e) The blade becomes the dome of the alien beast's head, and it replicated in the pipes to the far left of the picture

f) The treasure chest and it's equivalent, these animal head like forms on the lower end of tubes

g) The dog's head

g.i) The dog's ear becomes the blade like form with a glowing larval form coming out of the tip

g.ii) The mouth area of the dog becomes the shoulder with the upper front fang ectending like the dog's tongue and the lower fan becomes part of the neck sinews
