a) Giger's Biomechanic Mia appears to reference the shapes and forms of The Lemurian train bomb as featured in The Eternals comic book series. The curve of the sphinx's head along with the horn like tube above it roughly suggests the upper front of the train. The sphinx's arm roughly suggests the lower part of the front of the train

b) The eye shape on the upper right front of the train inspires the shape of the sphinx's head, as well as it's eye and the eye of the bird head and the woman has her head inside a dome and the train too has a dome, while the curve stretching across the top of the train becomes the dome in Giger's painting

c) The grill on the front of side intake becomes her rib cage. The grill towards the far right of the picture on the side of the train engine becomes the curtain of fabric hanging from the woman's waist, and the grill at the front of the train becomes the curtain of fabric hanging down from the side of the sphinx's shoulders. Other shapes and forms can be loosely compared and it might be hard to be specific. The background in the train picture becomes also biomechanised by Giger with ribbed patterns and faces imbedded in the wall.

ReplyDeleteAnother Kirby inspired Giger. Actually this Kirby image will have worked its way into perhaps a couple of Giger images and what this Kirby images references itself is also part of another chain of things to consider. Giger's Biomechanic Mia (Egyptian Style) references the Lemurian train bomb from Jack Kirby's The Eternals #16 , July 1977
