Guillermo Del Toro's Hellboy 2's Angel of Death
references HR Giger's Necronom II?

leading from
HR Giger's Necronom ii
and
Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy II

a) Guillermo is able to tell us something about the original Angel of Death idea from Hellboy 2, that in 1994, he was inspired by a Mexican church painting of archangels with eyes in every feather of their wings.

b) He took out a notebook and drew it in there thinking "That would be a great angel of death"  and left it until had was able to afford the mechanical eyes and wings.
  1. Guillermo Del Toro: For example the angel of death in Hellboy 2 which has the eyes and the wings, that was originally created for a project in 1994 and it was inspired by a Mexican painting in a church where archangels have the eyes and the wings, that was created originally for a project in 1994, and it was inspired by a mexican. ah, um, painting in a church where archangels have eyes in every feather. I took out a note... , I was in a church and I drew it in my notebook and it stayed there, and it was dormant until I was able to afford the mechanical eyes and the wings and all that stuff, and I thought "that would be a great angel of death" you know.
