Leading from
a) This Tintin book came out at the time and Hergé was certainly aware of what Chesley Bonestell was creating in his illustrations.
When
I looked at Hergé’s illustrations, for this The Adventures of Tintin:
Explorers on the moon story, the tank just jumped at me and stuck. So I
am asking the question about whether there is a connection.
Perhaps
Hergé was interested in using it and wanted to do something different,
but went more in the direction of what Dali was doing with his Chariot
of Bacchus.
b) The tomb lid of the Mayan king Pacal
c) The main structure of the encapsulating form with Pacal becomes Tintin in his space suit standing against the tank turret
d) The form of Pacal encapsulated in the symbolic stuctures becomes Tintin in his space suit against the tank turret
e) The lines that divide up the trunk of the tree of life become panels on the side of the tank
