a) 15th April 2016.
The Alien Covenant issue of Empire magazine is released.
I took a look at the scans linked to AVPGalaxy.net and then Later someone else had made more detailed scans http://www.alien-covenant.com

b) Something in the air
A scene showing David the android bombing the Engineers cityscape with the ampules. However
above the Engineer's city, a vast bow shaped ship with and bulky end, making it resemble a cross between a rib and a scorpion tale. So what is it? Is it just a piece of floating architecture?
c) A name: Mother-Juggernaut
Alien Covenant concept artist Wayne Haag's response was "Well well well... he added the Mother-Juggernaut..!" (See: https://twitter.com/ankaris/status/853188421413511168)
d.i) Steve Burg the concept artist's thoughts
Steve Burg who worked on the textures for the vessel found himself imagining all the things that might have been going on inside the giant craft.
He thought of it as a 'Coast Guard' for the planet and a docking station
He also thought that it was a defensive craft that pursued the craft that David was is to attack it
Wayne Haag was able to inform him later that it could be seen crashed further up the valley when the Lifter leaves the city
- Steve Burg: You know how when you work on things, you kind of "live there"? With this, I was imagining all the things that might have been going on inside this giant craft - which I guess is sort of the "Coast Guard" for the planet. Since it's nowhere to be seen later on, and the Juggernaut is crashed miles away, there must have been quite a "dust-up" after David dropped the black goo! - Wayne Haag: You can see it crashed further up the valley when the
Lifter leaves the city! You have to look quick though!
Steve Burg: No kidding? Wow, I will have to try and spot that! https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nlDd4 (2017 approx) - Mathieu Pascal: Great work ! Do you know exactly what is this "mothership" ? What is its
use ? It looks like a docking station. And why it is not here anymore
10 years later ?

e) Addition detail by Steve Burg
e.i) Steve Burg: Mothership Design/Model: Steven Messing Steven Messing created the huge alien ship that meets the Juggernaut
above the Engineer city. However it was felt that some additional fine
scale detail would be required for close-up views. These images were
done in post production for MPC, literally the last work I contributed
to the film. I had Steven's 3D model, and I recreated some pieces to
render out texture displacement I developed as large 32 bit image maps.
Various render passes were composited to explore a number of detail
motifs and material finishes, while retaining the original design. attack. The other ship is
found crashed in the mountains nearby. I am speculating, of course! (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nlDd4 (2017 approx)
