“Melancholy, Atomic Uranic Idyll” by Salvador Dali (1945)

a)  References Max Ernst's Celebes?

Here the pillar like form on the far right shows itself to be similar to the tree like form from Max Ernst's Celebes.

a.i)  A breast from the lower headless figure becomes the pale bulging form from the lower part of the pillar like form. But having said this, the Dali's pillar like form is comparable to a shape from a Miro painting "Figures in the Night Guided by the Phosphorescent Tracks" but the response to that is that at the time of writing is that perhaps Miro referenced Celebes as well, which is possible

b) References Joan Miro's "Figures in the Night Guided by the Phosphorescent Tracks" (1940)?

b.i) Painting also echoes Joan Miro's artwork and perhaps "Figures in the Night Guided by the Phosphorescent Tracks" from 1940 which I've decided is another descendant of Max Ernst's Celebes) but, the pillar like form on the right along with the ghostly form holding a bent club

b.ii Comparable areas

b.iii) Slug like curved form becomes a flat topped ghostly figure with bent club

b.iv) Spiked form from Miro painting and mouth with chin from Dali painting

b.v) Vertical form becomes the bulging pillar

c.) Salvador Dali's “The Painter’s Eye” (1942)

c.i) In this case, Dali would also have perhaps referenced his own painting “The Painter’s Eye” from 1942 and its interesting because of the idea of this lineage.

c.ii) Car with hole in wall wall and horned biomorph with hole in block

d. References the cover  "Mickey Mouse on the Cave-Man Island",

d.i)"Mickey Mouse on the Cave-Man Island" Big Little Book #1499 (published by Whitman, 1944) illustrated by Floyd Gottfredson?

  d.ii) The two images together

d.iii) Upper cave man, mickey's foot, toes of the lower right cave man and a curious biomorph. (which of course I think still connects with the car with hole in wall wall and horned biomorph with hole in block from The Painter's Eye as mentioned further up above)

d.iv)  Mickey mouse becomes head with two cutaways in the wall either side. His nose becomes an amorphous back view of a cracked pocket watch like container.

d.v) detail of Mickey's nose and the broken watch crawling with ants

d.vi) While the left hole appears to also be due to Mickey Mouse's left ear, meanwhile it would almost be as if the left boot would become the lower part of the left hole in the wall , the "By Walt Disney" text would become the elongated white form on the ground, while the space between the boot and the orange ground becomes the baseball player with the number 7 on his back resting on the ground.

 e) Referenced in?

e. i)  "Apollo astronauts" painting by Pierre Mion

  2. "Melancholy , Atomic Uranic Idyll" might indeed be called "Uranium and Atomica Melancholica Idyll".
